Turns out it was a Facebook group of (mostly) US based farriers who'd started playing it after it was posted by one of their members. There were quite a few interested comments, some supportive comments and a few posters who had made the decision that the whole thing was an internet hoax and a pack of lies - they were, of course, less constructive in their comments (though they were not clear about what they thought we were faking. Perhaps that the shoes had been photo-shopped out?!).
I must admit that I can't get too interested in the negative comments (after all, it was filmed at the RRR completely ad hoc and with total transparency) and certainly not until the people who post those comments can produce horses as sound and capable - and with hooves as healthy - as the ones in the film :-)
However, there was one pungent and repetitive criticism which a number of the group made; several of them said that "the music sucked". I'm not sure whether it was Brokeback Mountain or Labi Siffre whom they hated most, and it wasn't the politest way to express their differing sentiments, but personal opinion is fair comment and one person's favourite track is another person's anathema.
So, in the interests of making the footage more enjoyable for the group, I came up with this version...
Personally I don't think it quite has the piquancy of the original, but each to his own...What do you think?

Great to see the video again but I don't think this track fits! One for Bryher playing perhaps?
Let's have some Bruce Springsteen!
Yeee haaa!!

Its for a very specific audience, Amanda ;-) Someone else suggested heavy metal would be more appropriate! I can see that for the next piece of slow mo film we will have to have a vote on soundtrack :-)
I HEAR BANJOS!!!

Ha! I'm a bit slow! lol
Please no music. Why does it have to have music? What's music got to do with it? You'll never get everyone to like it so don't do it. Just leave us all in peace with the nice pictures. Or even better leave on the original soundtrack with the hooves.
"The music sucked." That's the best they could come up with!? LOL! Ok, well I haven't seen the original video, so I can't comment to the original music. I can say, however, that watching the video with Dueling Banjos brought back a lot of good memories of my brother and father playing that while I was growing up. And watching the amazing landings of those feet was just icing on the cake. :D So thank you. I love it.
Glad you like it Marian. Sophie, I suggest you use the handy volume control on your computer ;-) If you prefer the original, its still up there at the top of the blog on a page all of its own.
If one doesn't like the music, one can just turn off the volume. Although, I admit I'd love to hear the sound of the hooves over music.
Slow motion video can't record sound at the same time because it would be too distorted so high definition slow-mo is always silent.
