A grand day out!

Yesterday was the opening meet for the 2010-2011 season of the Exmoor Foxhounds (although both horses and hounds have actually been working since 31st July...!) and it was Bailey W's last day at Rockley.  He must have wondered what was happening as he was plaited up and loaded into the trailer.

He has made lots of trips to the vets in the past, so maybe he thought it was going to be another one of those days...
But then again, Lainey appeared to have dressed up as well, and it was a much shorter trip than normal...
"Aha, I think I've worked it out...!"
Charlie says: "Don't worry Bailey, you are going to enjoy this!"
 ...I think Charlie is right...
After a quiet half mile ride away from the meet, hounds are gone!  From then on it was a day for lots of fast cantering - Bailey was up for it!

We called it a day after a couple of hours - Bailey had had a lovely morning and had covered over 9 miles, most of it at high speed, up hill, down dale and along the roads so it was time for him and Charlie to head home.   Felix and our Bailey stayed out all day, and they had a blinder and were out till just before dark - 27.4 miles by the GPS and hounds never stopped.  A truly grand day out :-)
"I could get used to going hunting barefoot..."

Charlie says thank you ;-) I'm hoping we can do the Welsh double with him and Solomon before you take him home :-)

Gorgeous - I miss all those hills.
Good luck Lainey, it's so exciting (and a bit scary) when you get them home.

Thanks for all the lovely comments. It was a wonderful day, a day to remember forever as i got my horse of a lifetime back.
Thanks especially to Charlie who did a fantastic job of nannying Bailey, Charlie was so cute, everytime Bailey caught him up he would nicker to him, like he was saying "it's ok mate your with me and i'm a pro". And a massive thanks to Nic as without her none of this would ever have happened.x

I'm so thrilled for you Lainey, its far too early for me to get my hopes too high for Isha, but it is still wonderful news for anyone who has suffered along with their horse with long term lameness.
