Happy Christmas from this blog!

Happy Christmas! from Nic Barker on Vimeo.

The internet is back on - hooray! - and so here is your Christmas card from Rockley Farm :-)

I hope you enjoy it, and thank you to all of you for making this the best year so far for the blog and for Rockley.  Just in case we have another glitch with online connectivity, I'll take today's blog to wish you a very Happy Christmas, and an even better 2011!

Wonderful Nic :)

You have totally inspired me to keep horses as "naturally" as possible. My mission has now changed from simply having a place for Academy
to having a place for Academy where performance/working horses can live the life alike the one at Rockley.

Cuddles for Kingsley (trust him to be the one to splash himself right into the camera;) and Warmest Wishes for Xmas time!

I recently found your blog and I am enjoying it and learning a lot. My horses have always been shod, I live at 5000+ft in Colorado on very hard dry ground and few horses that run and jump for a living seem to be able to stay barefoot, although I know people who try. I have been turned off by the "cult" of barefoot enthusiasts who want to praise ANYONE who has barefoot horses, even if they are headbobbing lame and demonize anyone who puts shoes on without knowing anything about the horse. There is very little sane conversation about the subject. Your blog, photos and discourse are wonderful to read and I am enjoying learning about this subject without emotional judgments. Happy Holidays to everyone at your farm and I look forward to continued reading.

So glad you've enjoyed the "card" ;-) It does look magically Christmassy here at the moment...

Wiola, thank you - and Kingsley sends a big whiskery kiss back(!) and is pleased you liked his snowman impression! Like you, I don't believe that "natural" is the be-all and end-all, but the horses do seem to enjoy being able to mooch and make choices about where (and with whom!) they spend their time!

Barbara, I am delighted you've found the blog enjoyable, and I am with you in being wholly against lame horses and barefoot evangelism ;-) I hope you come back and visit again!
