Got there!

A couple of weeks ago the arena was in need of TLC - after all its nearly 10 years since we last did anything to the surface (apart from harrowing it)...
The drainage and base were both perfect but the gravel boards which used to edge it had rotted and shifted so Andy and Al spent a long time putting in new boards and squaring the edges off properly once again.
By this time the new surface was ordered and paid for but hadn't arrived. I'd decided to opt for rubber which should give us better protection against sub-zero temperatures than the current sand surface - here's hoping, as the last few winters have left it unuseable for weeks at a time.
The rubber eventually arrived and was unloaded, as I posted yesterday, which just left the task of spreading, grading and levelling it...The tractor and quad helped a bit, but in the end a lot of it had to be done by hand.
Eight hours later, and I will be happy if I never see a landscaping rake again...But it does look good :-)

I am due to post updates on Thomas and Wally - not to mention that it is Bryher's birthday today - so will get onto those as soon as I can...
