Zan - rehab footage and photos

Zan arrived a few days ago now but its been so hectic I haven't had the chance to upload his footage till today.

He arrived in graduated bar shoes and as you can see has a very under-run, collapsed heel.
He also has a pigeon-toed conformation, and from the initial photos at least, it looks as if he is overloading his hooves laterally.
In his video footage, you can see that he is landing very inconsistently - sometimes heel first, sometimes toe first, and it swaps from leg to leg.  This may be partly a function of the graduated shoes but his landing will also be affected by the fact that he was on a dose of 2 bute per day when he arrived.

One final thing which has already improved is the temperature of his distal limbs and hooves, which were extremely cold when in shoes.  Now that the shoes are off, his legs and hooves are a more natural temperature but he has a long way to go!

ooooooh. That's intesting! That's the kind of toe-on conformation that would have had people saying that he could never succesfully go barefoot because of uneven wear. It will be interesting to see how he gets on and how much straighter he gets without shoes. My friend had a HUGE disher, quite the worst I have ever seen at five years old, which has much reduced since the mare went barefoot.

Yes, I need to get some more footage of him soon, because I think there will be big changes in how his feet load and move as well :-)
