I had been planning to use this week's posts for lots of updates about Isha, Solomon, Kingsley and Ginger and I had also planned to take lots of new footage of them all. Unfortunately, when I filmed Ginger earlier in the week it was so foggy even in the barn that the footage was next to useless...Never mind, I thought, I will have plenty of chances on other days and the fog can't carry on ALL week...
I was right, sort of - the fog didn't last all week, but then there was a rather more significant glitch. As you know, my Dad was knocked down by a car before Christmas and spent a couple of weeks in hospital before coming home just before Christmas Eve. All seemed to be going OK, although he is still in a wheelchair, but then a few days ago Mum was carted off to hospital with what proved to be a massive blood clot.
In many ways she has been extraordinarily fortunate, because she has been told that the doctors can't understand why she didn't have a severe stroke. She is still in hospital, remarkably cheerful, and will be until her condition has been stabilised, but you can understand that over the last couple of days there hasn't been much spare capacity for filming(!).
Not the greatest start to the New Year for Mum and Dad, who between them now have one functioning pair of legs and one functioning pair of arms...Still, on both counts everything could have been a lot worse, and we are all grateful for that! They are already planning where they will go to celebrate when they are both back to being 100% :-)
Very sorry to hear about your Mum - hope she continues to improve.
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't plan anymore events like this and both get better soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope your parents both feel better and heal up quick.
ReplyDeleteDoesnt sound like either of them have had a good start to the Year :(
ReplyDeleteHope they both get back to full health soon
Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a disaster free year to come!
ReplyDeleteWow... very sorry to hear about your mother, and just after your father's accident... it can't be easy! Thank goodness they are both in good spirits. Many good wishes for a speedy recovery for them both!
ReplyDeleteYou are all so kind - thank you - its very much appreciated. We are hoping that she will come out of hospital next week and be able to return to what I have now christened "The House of Warfarin"...(!)
