When I said the horses chose whether they wanted to be in or out during the snow...this is what I meant :-)
Winter day from Nic Barker on Vimeo. As you can see, Solomon, Kingsley, Isha and Charlie are on particularly good form, with Jack and Angel causing trouble at the back :-)
I took that footage by mistake - I had my point-and-squirt-camera in my pocket and although it makes for very fuzzy video, the playing to the gallery was too good to ignore ;-)
Yesterday our friends Sam and Ted came up, as they are on holiday and didn't have enough snow at home (!). We had a proper snowy expedition, getting Bailey, Isha, Solomon and Kingsley out, along with the dogs, and with Ted on the ground as expedition photographer on a fraction of his normal shoot fee, though he did get a bowl of soup...
Isha wondering whether the idea is for her to make like a husky
and just tow Sam and Bailey behind her...
Kingsley and Solomon behave beautifully...
...and now Isha's got the hang of it as well!
"We are NOT getting left behind - the girls may be big but we're smaller, nimbler and faster..."
"Look, I can even do trotting!"
I was pleased with all of them - in difficult conditions they behaved incredibly well and although the terrain wasn't the easiest, they were all very sure-footed. Working the horses isn't straightforward in this weather - but it sure is easier than working shod horses :-)
I LOVE the video so much!! That has made my week :D Soli is such a little tinker!! The bit at the end made me laugh soo much when they all are like 'hmm, fun over, bed time now'!! Pics are fab to :)
ReplyDeleteIts brill isn't it :) I just want to come up and join in!
ReplyDeleteBarefoot is better in the snow, which we get quite a bit of in my part of the US.
ReplyDelete:-) yep, I certainly wouldn't be out on shod horses in this! Really chuffed with how well they are all going at the moment!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so beautiful with all that snow, but then I think about actually being out RIDING in it... brrrr. High today here is 24 degrees C and sunny... somehow that seems a bit more sane!
ReplyDeleteThe video was lovely and I really enjoyed watching it - thanks for posting it!
Well well! Someone's enjoying the snow! Love the video :)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably find 24 C too hot now Jen ;-) As the old saying goes, there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing...
ReplyDeleteWiola and I are both asking Santa for freeze-proof indoor schools, though :-)
